Power of Postcodes

In the UK there are approximately 27,000,000 unique postcodes - spread between 10,500+ sectors such as PE1 2xx or LE4 3XX and each one of these defines a small area, and crucially these point have known physical coordinates on the UK map and this is where the fun starts.

If you know a clients postcode you can do all sorts of cool stuff like:
Tell them how far they are from you
Tell them your nearest branch or distributor
Tell them how far ( in a straight line ) they are from other members, or searched for items
Show lists of items in order of distance - like all the used cars within 30 miles etc
This can work in reverse as well, if you get an enquiry the site can automatically forward it to the nearest agent or representative.
You can also plot any of these on a map and literally show where things are, think Google maps on your site.

As you can imagine this becomes very powerful when combined with a database generated site. If we know where you are, your members, suppliers and customers then you can start giving visitors really useful information.

The downside is that this huge list of postcodes and there corresponding coordinates can cost a fortune from the royal mail - however we have built our own for public data, and can show you loads of examples of the system running on our sites.
